ITALY

Welcome to Italy,

It’s been a long time since i wanted to visit Venise and from Nice it’s actually not that far. I had ew days off and decided jump on this 20€ flixbus and cross the border and North of Italy to reach Venice the next morning. Before travelling there i knew the light on the canaux was something to catch but it exceeded my expectations. After few days exploring this city (island) i want to share my tips and itineraries.

Things you need to know before visiting Italy

When to Visit Italy ?

Be careful to the rain season

Summer : very very crowded

Spring : very nice weather enjoyable and already crowded.

How to Get There ?

Marco Polo Airport –

From Mestre – A train every 10 minutes – that last 5 minutes – 2€ ticket – Very convenient

From xxx to xxx you’ll have to pay a fee to access the island this is made to limitate the number of people on the island.

How to Get Around ?

Once you get on the Island

  • Walking – litteraly walkable – i’ve only used my feet during those 4 days.
  • Water public transport – buy the 24h or something
  • Taxi Boat

Things to Do :

Main Attraction Point :

  • Rialto Bridge
  • Pont des Soupirs
  • St mark’s Place
  • Ponte dell Academia
  • go up to St Mark’s place
  • Library
  • Peggy Guggenheim Museum – Describe a bit who is peggy
  • L’opera
  • Vivaldi Concert

Day Trip :

  • Murano
  • Burano

Different Areas

I like to know the different areas and stroll arround. If i feel i wanna stop for a coffee or an icecream because i feel like, then i’ll do. Just below you’ll find the different areas where you all get a different vibe.

Cannaregio – Jewish (free walking tour; the first one i ever did and i was esthonished who good it was – Peaceful – Calm – Less Known – Eat an Ice Cream and seat on the main canal)

  • Get your guide or free walking tour

Student Area

South of the Island – Quiet and Parks

How Avoiding the Crowd ?

The first day, I’ve try to do as much as possible and to walk to every single location, at night i felt a little bit overwhelmed and i noticed i didn’t enjoy that much. At least it allowed me to know the area i’ve liked the more or the less.

  • Wake up early in the morning
  • More peaceful in the evening or at night
  • Go to less turisty Area (here)
  • Go for free walking tour instead of operator tour – more authentic – not visiting the main attraction of the city.
